We still have work to do!

Expand VIA GP

In my next term I will continue working to reduce wait times while expanding and connecting our VIA program with other important commercial, medical and educational sites in other DFW cities.

  • Early into my term on council we set up the VIA GP program which is our micro-transit ride share system that allows our residents to travel anywhere in the city for $3 a ride.

  • It also allows our residents to go hospitals in nearby cities - Methodist Mansfield, Medical City Arlington, Dallas Parkland - for $3 a ride.

  • College students living in Grand Prairie can use VIA to attend UT Arlington and TCC SE Campus for $3 a ride as well as to Dallas Baptist University and DCCCD Mountain View Campus for $4 a ride

  • We currently average about 12k rides a month with VIA and 16 minutes wait time. We are continually working to reduce the wait time while maintaining the quality and affordability of rides.

Reduce property taxes

In my next term, I will work to additionally cut property taxes as well as increase the homestead exemption to provide our residents with the greatest amount of tax relief while maintaining a well-balanced and fiscally responsible budget.

  • Throughout my first term we cut property taxes twice, dropping our property tax rate to $0.660000 per $100 of assessed property value.

  • Since 2021, we have also increased the homestead exemption from 10% to 15%. The homestead exemption increase results in more property tax savings for our residents because it solely applies to homeowners.

Infrastructure improvements

In my second term, I plan to continue working with our Federal and State representatives to secure funding for capital improvement projects to keep our city safe, secure, and accessible.

  • Throughout my first term on council, I have worked with my fellow council members to adequately fund capital improvement projects to improve and fix our roads, maintenance of our bridges, protecting our water system and supply as well as expanding and improving broadband affordability and accessibility in our economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

  • We have partnered with our state and federal representatives to make these projects happen and if I am re-elected it will remain a major priority so that we can ensure that every resident of our great city has fair and equitable access to basic city resources and services.

Unity in our Community

I will remain engaged, involved and a voice for everyone who lives in our great city!

  • Throughout my first term as your council member it has been a major priority for myself to promote Unity in our Community. Regardless of your Race, Religion, Gender, or Political Partisanship, if you live in Grand Prairie this is your home and we are all neighbors.

  • As a result, I have personally hosted 3 community picnics and school supplies drives which have allowed residents to enjoy an evening of cultural diversity through catering of foods from various cultures, and encouraging residents to bring school supplies that we then donate to a school in Grand Prairie that have students that need school supplies.

  • I have also hosted 2 community basketball games in which our police department plays against teenagers within our city. The goal of the game is to build relationships with these young men and the police so if an incident ever occurs in the future, the young men will then be more comfortable in contacting law enforcement for help and support.

  • I have co-hosted 2 community halloween fests in which myself, the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce, GPISD, GPISD Council of PTAs and Raise Your Hand Texas create an environment for children to trick-or-treat in a safe space while their parents get to meet and connect with local businesses, and non-profits that set up booths at the event.

  • Finally, since being on our city council I have held 3 Town Hall meetings in which I provided updates and answered any questions residents had for me and our city as to upcoming projects, issues occurring within their neighborhoods or just helping connect our residents with resources to improve their quality of life.

Environmental Sustainability

I will continue working to protect our green spaces, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and collaborate with our regional partners to usher in a more sustainable future.
  • During my first term on our city council I have made it a priority to protect and enhance the beauty of our city. Which is a reason why I have regularly taken part in our "Clean Prairie" and "The Big Event" activities to support our community in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of our city.

  • I have also advocated for the expansion of our green spaces to allow for more city-owned parks, dog parks, walking and cycling trails. With the goal of allowing our residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the beauty that Grand Prairie has to offer.

  • In regard to combatting climate change we are currently conducting a greenhouse gas inventory study over all of our municipal facilities. Following that we will create a sustainability plan to help us reach our goals in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

  • We are also working with our federal representatives and partners to secure grants through the federal government's Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to help support our efforts towards creating a more sustainable future.
